The Loose Parts Series begins with a session on creating space for wonder & exploration in your early learning program and continues on with hands-on, interactive 2-hour workshops reflecting specific developmental areas. The Loose Parts in Action sessions can be offered independently or as a series at your program. These sessions are perfect for teachers, directors, and program owners.

Wonder & Exploration: Loose Parts & Child-Led Learning

Children crave hands-on experiences with relevant and exciting materials. Examine how loose parts can support sustained, child-led play and learning in your program. Develop learning invitations and experiences for children that support their independent construction of knowledge. Create a program that invites wonder into each and every day!

Build upon children’s natural wonder and curiosity about the world to prepare them for Kindergarten. Discover how to create meaningful literacy learning with books, found objects, and inspiring materials. Create environments that invite authentic language and literacy exploration and apply Oregon’s Early Learning and Kindergarten Guidelines in developing loose parts activities that teach essential literacy skills.

Join this experiential opportunity to discover how to create meaningful math learning with found objects and inspiring materials. Young children are natural problem solvers! Build upon that natural wonder and curiosity by providing an environment full of inspiring materials, loose parts, and found objects. Encourage children with the “Think about it. Try it. Fix it. Share it.” model of the engineering process and design activities and provocations for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Come ready to tinker and create!
