Parent Workshops

Engaging sessions for families at your early childhood program.

Parent workshops are offered onsite at your program either during your business day, in the evening, or on the weekend. Staff attending and participating in the workshop will earn Set 1 training hours in the corresponding Core Knowledge Category (CKC). These workshops are also a great “lunch hour” training for staff in busy programs.

Cost: $125/hour session, $150/ 1½ hour session.

Cost reflects up to 30 parents.

Play = Learning

Why is a play-based learning approach so very important to developing minds and bodies? This workshop will provide parents with the rationale for why open-ended, play-based learning is best for children’s physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development.

Staff participating along with parents in this session will receive Set 1 training hours in Human Growth & Development.

Safety Without Fear: Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse

Keeping our kids safe is a priority for parents and educators alike! How do we talk about hard things like preventing sexual abuse? In this session, we look at best practices for talking candidly with children about their bodies, consent and boundaries, and practical strategies for keeping children safe.

Staff participating along with parents in this session will receive Set 1 training hours in Health, Safety, and Nutrition.

Practical Positive Behavior Strategies

Children have a range of behaviors that while they are actually typical stages in development, can feel confusing or frustrating to their parents. In this workshop, we’ll examine common challenging behaviors and learn practical ways to support positive communication and behavior. Helpful resources will be provided as well as reassurance that parents are doing amazing work!

Staff participating along with parents in this session will receive Set 1 training hours in Understanding & Guiding Behavior.

Look What I Made! Valuing Process Over Product

In this hands-on session, parents will discover the joy of open-ended art and learn the skills children are developing when they use their own imagination and creativity in their play and work. Get ready to make something amazing!

Staff participating along with parents in this session will receive Set 1 training hours in Learning Environments & Curriculum.

Loose Parts & Little Worlds of Learning

This hands-on, play-filled workshop invites parents to step into the world of wonder and imagination that comes from open-ended play materials. Parents will leave with a smile on their faces and a fresh perspective on why play and child-led materials matter.
